Ramadan Prayer Times and What To Do In Between

Practicing Muslims are well aware this is Ramadan. Of course, it’s important to observe the five daily prayer times.

  •  The prayer at sunrise is Fajr.
  • Dhuhr is the one carried out at noon.
  •  In the afternoon, the prayer is called  Asr.
  • Maghrib is held at sunset.
  • Isha is also termed the night prayer.

During Ramadan, many of the faithful spend several hours praying at the local mosque. The five daily prayers mentioned above are the core of Islam. During this time, another special prayer Tarawih or night prayer is recited.

Ramadan occurs on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. People who practice Islam observe strict daily fasts that last from dawn until sunset. At the end, a celebration breaking the fast, Eid al-Fitr, takes place.

Prayers at Certain Times

These prayers all take place at certain times. Here’s a prayer times schedule for Canadians. And one for people living in the USA

Making the most of the time in between is easier with the following suggestions.

  • Read the Quran. It’s helpful to have the proper translation since the original book was written in Arabic. Scholars also suggest that you pick a companion book called an exegesis or commentary. Many English translations will contain footnotes. However, having these extra explanations for certain passages can help give you a full understanding.
  • Build Relationships with Friends and Family. Community bonding is one of the central purposes of Ramadan. During this month you can spend some time with relatives you haven’t seen in a bit as well as meet some new people. Reaching out to someone will strengthen your belief. Visiting the lonely, the elderly and the sick has great benefits. These are good ideas for the spaces in between prayer times.
  • Practice Reflection and Self-Improvement. Ramadan is also a time to focus on the things that matter the most in your life and to those around you. Taking the time in between daily prayers to identify the areas where you can make a change for the better is good. Being honest with yourself is important. Don’t try and change everything you find all at once during this month. One change is sufficient to move forward in faith.

Give To A Local Charity Between Prayer Times

You can also focus on giving to a local charity to fill your time in between prayers. Your gift doesn’t need to be money. Why not go through a closet in your house and donate any used clothing you think someone else can use?

Helping Your Community Between Prayer Times.

This is also a good time to help a local community organization by volunteering. Finally, we understand that Ramadan is a special time for kindness, spiritual reflection, and self-improvement.

Fasting is one of the important pillars. Here are several benefits to help keep you motivated.

  • Beyond helping you to enhance your spirituality, fasting reduces bad cholesterol.
  • It also helps to boost your mental clarity and mood.

Remember that light soup is an excellent way to start your main Iftar.
