Eid al Fitr Preparation Ideas to Make it Stress-Free

Breaking fast together. Asian family enjoy and joking when breaking fast together at home on Eid

We’re roughly a week away from the much-awaited Eid al Fitr, signifying the end of this year’s Ramadan season. And as with most occasions, we celebrate; preparation is needed before that day comes.

We’ve prepared some simple and practical tips to help make your Ramadan preparation more rewarding and less hectic.

Make an Eid Checklist (or a Few)

Start your Eid preparation by making a checklist – and sticking to it as much as possible. Working through your list religiously will help you finish everything on time and relieve unwanted stress.

Ideally, you’ll need one checklist for Eid. Realistically, you’d need several checklists to keep everything in… well… check.

Some checklists you have to prepare for include:

  • Dishes to prepare for Eid. If you intend to have guests bring food over, this list will be shorter and easier to complete.
  • Gifts you plan to give out during Eid. While cash will always be quicker and easier, physical gifts have been the trendier option lately.
  • Clothes for you and your family for Eid. Buy the clothes as early as possible to avoid the rush, and have them prepared the night before.

Keep the Eid Preparation Simple

When friends and family are over, we often go overboard with the preparations. From going full-force on the decorations to cleaning every nook and cranny of the home, it can get overwhelming.

But trust me when I say this… your company matters more than the extravagant preparation. So save yourself trouble and energy by keeping your preparation to a minimum. Instead, focus on having a great time with friends and family and being grateful for completing another Ramadan.

Get the Kids Involved

Doing the entire Eid preparation process, even if streamlining it, could take a long time if done alone. Not to mention the precious energy you’d be expending, which is in limited supply due to fasting.

Why not make it a fun and learning experience for the young ones by having them pitch in while you’re preparing? You can also encourage them to earn some good deeds by helping out. A win-win for everyone!

Always Go Back to the Reason for the Season

At the end of the day, the day is all about enjoying festivities with the people that matter the most. Sharing laughs, lessons, and lasting moments will make the celebration worthwhile.

From your family at IjaraCDC, Eid Mubarak!
