Islamic finance and basic tile shapes and patterns

We’ve said it before in these blogs but it bears repeating: Islamic finance is only the first step in the homeownership journey. After you get the place that you’ve been looking for with an ijara loan, you can rest assured that you’ll be entering the real estate market in a Sharia compliant way. Then the seemingly endless work begins. This is especially true when you start making choices about the kinds of flooring that you want to look at. Tiles come in the kind of variety that you might not have seen since you sorted through all that that was to offer with Islamic finance. Still, there are a few shapes and sizes that are common enough and should give you a good starting point.

  • Basic floor tiles. These come in several different colors but all are 12 in by 12 inIt’s an easy measurement to work with and a standard size.
  • Hexagon shaped tiles create an interlocking pattern. These are slightly harder to fit with but well worth the effort when you’re looking for an artistic touch.

Rectangular shaped tiles are another choice that you have with the money you got from your ijara loan.
