Safety tips during a power outage.

Islamic finance covers your finances when you buy a home but the money you get from an islamic bank doesn’t look after everything you need to know. With all the extreme weather we’ve been getting lately in North America, it stands to reason that you want to be fully compliant about what to do during a power outage. As the weather becomes more and more unpredictable it becomes more reasonable to have plan to keep you and your family safe when the lights go out.

  • Surges and spikes in electricity can damage your electronics when the power comes back on and that means you should unplug all of these as soon as the power goes off. Remember to leave at least one light on to let you know when the power returns.
  • Try to keep a battery powered radio around to check on updates from your local power utility. It’s also better to use use torches and LED lanterns rather than candles since these present a fire hazard even with the most careful use.

You’ll also want to avoid opening the refrigerator or freezer to keep your food edible for as long as possible.
